Walt Disney Animation Studios' Zootopia 2 is on pace to exceed the $1 billion mark at the global box office after just 17 days in theaters, having earned $986.1 million so far (domestic $232.7 million and international $753.4 million). This achievement will make it the second Motion Picture Association (MPA) film to reach $1 billion in 2025, following Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and it will do so in the fastest time ever for any animated MPA release and for any PG-rated film.
This milestone also marks the first time Walt Disney Animation Studios has produced back-to-back billion-dollar releases, following last year’s Moana 2. The studio can now claim five billion-dollar titles since 2013: Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, Zootopia, and Zootopia 2.

Zootopia 2 opened on November 26 with a record-breaking $559.5 million from five days of release, earning a Certified Hot audience score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and an A CinemaScore. It set records as the highest global opening for an animated film, the top global debut of 2025, and the best global opening for any animated Disney title, while also securing the No. 1 international MPA release of the year.
The film also shattered several Chinese box-office milestones. It became the country’s highest-grossing animated opening ever for a non-local title with $272 million, and the highest-grossing non-local animated film of all time in just five days. It currently stands as the No. 2 MPA release in China, with an estimated $447 million to date, trailing only Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. Disney Studios now enshrines three of the top five highest-grossing MPA titles in the Chinese market.
As Zootopia 2 continues its global run, interest in the franchise has surged, fueling record viewing of Zootopia and Zootopia+ on Disney+, which together have accumulated more than 725 million hours of viewing worldwide.
