ISU Grand Prix Final 2025: Chock/Bates Celebrate Three-Peat with Season Best in Both Programs
Three-time world champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates have now claimed the Grand Prix Final title for the third consecutive year. The USA ice dancers achieved their season's best score in both the rhythm and free dances, solidifying their dominance in figure skating at the 2025 ISU Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan, on December 6th.
Chock and Bates had already set a new season's best in the rhythm dance, improving their score by nearly four points. Their lead over France's Laurence Fournier-Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron was narrow, but a two-point deduction for an extended curve lift and Fournier-Beaudry's slip on the ice (counted as a fall) reduced their free dance score to 126.69, putting them six points behind the leaders with an overall score of 214.25.
Great Britain's Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson received a standing ovation and achieved their season's best of 126.26 for their Scottish-themed program, securing third place, the same position they held the previous year.
Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, from Canada, were less than a point behind after the rhythm dance. While they improved their season's best with a free dance score of 125.86, it wasn't enough to surpass the world bronze medallists, who won by a mere 0.6 points. This marks the second consecutive year that the Canadians missed the podium.
