City of Palms 2025: Top Performers and Breakout Stars (2026)

The City of Palms Classic delivered a showcase of exceptional basketball talent! My time at the 2025 City of Palms tournament has wrapped up, but the excitement continues. As I reflect on the action in Fort Myers, it's clear there were standout performances and valuable lessons learned. Let's dive into some of the top players who made their mark, including Brian Mitchell Jr., Qayden Samuels, and Quentin Coleman.

Quentin Coleman: The Rising Star

Quentin Coleman, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Principia (MO) and a Wake Forest signee, has emerged as a breakout star. In just two games, Coleman averaged an impressive 32.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals, shooting an outstanding 54.1% from the field, including 50.0% from beyond the arc. His rapid ascent, climbing into the Top 100 from unranked, has continued with his impact on both ends of the court.

Coleman's combination of size, skill, court awareness, and competitive drive is truly remarkable. He's a team player, a dynamic scorer, and a tenacious defender. The future is bright for Coleman, and Wake Forest fans have a lot to look forward to!

Brian Mitchell Jr.: Consistent Excellence

Brian Mitchell Jr., a shooting guard from Paul VI (VA), has consistently impressed. Playing alongside Jordan Smith Jr., Mitchell has shouldered a significant offensive load. His shot-making ability and toughness have left a lasting impression. In a game against Calvary Christian (FL), Mitchell scored 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists, shooting 9-of-14 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range. He's earned a three-star rating and could soon break into the Top 150.

Qayden Samuels: Explosive Offense

Qayden Samuels, a 6-foot-5 wing from Bishop McNamara (MD), showcased his scoring prowess. After a tough first game, he exploded for 40 points and 16 rebounds against Garfield Heights (Ohio). Samuels demonstrated his shot-making ability, aggressive drives, and ability to play through contact. While he may lack speed, his jumper creates opportunities for drives and finishes. He shot an efficient 15-of-23 from the field and 5-of-10 from three-point range.

Caleb Gaskins: Dominant Performance

In a highly anticipated matchup, Caleb Gaskins, a Miami signee, stole the show against five-star PF Christian Collins. Gaskins led his team to victory with a 30-point performance, showcasing his scoring versatility with jumpers, drives, and finishes in the paint. He was a mismatch with his blend of strength, athleticism, and skill, shooting 14-of-18 from the field and adding 7 rebounds.

Abdou Toure: Athletic Dominance

Abdou Toure, an Arkansas signee, dominated with his athleticism and improved offensive skills. Toure's athleticism and slashing were on full display, with monster dunks and a competitive edge. He also showed improved shooting, hitting from mid-range and beyond the arc. He delivered an impressive stat line of 41 points and 8 rebounds, shooting 16-of-20 from the field and 2-of-5 from three.

DJ Okoth: Sophomore Standout

Sophomore DJ Okoth, a Top 15 recruit, had an impressive weekend, impacting the game with his size and athleticism. Okoth is active on both ends of the court, playing with a high motor and embracing contact. His offensive skillset is still developing, but his impact on winning is undeniable. He averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in his first two games.
